Creative arts therapy processes are intensive, creative and purposed to bring about healing, self-discovery and re-connection with intuition. Melissa has spent considerable time, effort and creative energy invested in equipping herself with a variety of unique and relevant abilities that work together to facilitate growth in individuals, groups, communities and organisations through creativity and developing intuition. Her approach is based on her clinical training, her own intuition, as well as her many years experience in using music as a healing modality. Approaches she draws from include:
Guided Imagery and Music is a music-centered form of self-exploration. Listening to carefully selected pieces of music in a relaxed state, you may see images in your mind’s eye. The music used in GIM can be compared to the soundtrack of an inner, personal movie. In this relaxed state, you have access to deeper layers of wisdom, beyond what you are typically able to access from your rational mind alone. This helps us connect with ourselves and with others; ultimately it helps us grow into our Selves.
Mandala Work (MARI) uses your intuitive responses to symbols, colour and music, and provides an accurate Jungian psychological assessment revealing a picture of the whole psyche. Through this intensive, creative process, you will identify and work with areas of tension and areas that need attention. One of the primary purposes of this work is to allow you to access and trust your intuition. The process also allows you to visually become aware of your strengths and insights gained.
Expressive Arts Therapy is the practice of using imagery, storytelling, dance, music, drama, poetry, movement, horticulture, dreamwork, and visual arts together, in an integrated way, to foster human growth, development, and healing.
*Melissa is currently in advanced training for the Bonny Method of Guided Imagery as well as Mandala Assessment Research Instrument (MARI).
